Becoming Resilient - Part 4

We are in the final installment of this series about Becoming Resilient. The last part is all about meaning.

Meaning: Find your purpose; help others, be a proactive problem solver during hard times, and set and work towards realistic goals to identify tangible signs of growth and self-discovery.

I don’t know about you, but when my husband passed, all of a sudden everything I thought I knew I didn’t feel so sure about anymore. I had to find new purpose. I had to figure out what the rest of my days would look like, for I knew how I had done them was no longer going to serve me. Some may call this wisdom or discernment, but this didn’t come right away. First, I had to get my assets in order and organize my house in a way that I could love by making it feel new and fresh for this new season. That took about six months for me to get settled. But, 2018 was the beginning of me really starting to read, learn, and absorb as many words as I could take in. After many years of eating words like candy, I started to feel full, and then I had to find a way to release them. This blog has been my safe place to share my thoughts. It has been part of my healing and has also given me purpose. A discipleship of sorts, or heart scribing as I like to call them.

God has given me an ability to take complex concepts and break them down to a simpler form. It has been an asset in my real estate career, for I am able to find a way to get to the finish line again and again. My career was building resilience in me that I had no idea I was going to need.

As I pondered the thoughts of purpose and after reading The Purpose Driven Life, I started to see life from a broader view and what the purpose of it was all about. I gained an eternal perspective, and I believe that was one of the gifts God gave me in my husband’s absence. To see from a heavenly perspective. My love left, and the Creator of love Himself sent down seeds of impartation in his departure. That’s a good Father folks.

I believe this truth is also true for you. I believe for those who can grab a hold of this concept with faith that seeds were planted in you too. All it will take now is some watering to see those seeds start to bloom. It gets me so excited to hear from fellow widows what desires are hiding inside of their hearts.

I can hear some saying, “well that is easy for you to say, for you are still young.” No ma’am. If you are not dead, then you are not done. The Old Testament is full of stories of people in their sixties, eighties and beyond finding purpose and divine guidance on what the Father desired for them to fulfill. They obeyed, and He kept them well while they fulfilled their purpose. Let me encourage you. God will provide if He has sent you an idea or people to care for on the earth. You are capable, and I am here to cheer you on into your destiny, for I believe widows and widowers have a great ministry to fulfill.

Let’s show the world a different narrative of a widow or widower’s after stories for His glory. God has a purpose and plan for each one of us. All we have to do is tune into Him and obey the promptings He gives us within. Amen and amen.

As wild as it sounds, being a widow is how I found my purpose. And by seeking the Father, I found my peace. In His mercy, He exchanged my sadness and madness by revealing to me piece by piece the purpose of my destiny. I believe He will do the same for you.

Until next time,

Keep Believing

Keep Braving

Keep Beaming
