~During this month, I will have guest blogs from friends, family, and loved ones about how My Mended Heart has impacted them. Today's blog is written by my friend Leigh Ann Blount. I hope you enjoy!~
One day recently as I drove home, I prayed with the intent of listening—listening for God’s gentle voice, often a calm amidst the storm. I prayed with a heart to hear whatever the Lord wanted to share that day for myself and a few others. I heard, “When you seek Me, you’ll find Me.” It’s a distinct encouragement for us, “Seek Me and find Me.”
“I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.”
Proverbs 8:17 NKJV
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7 NKJV
An image began to play out in my mind of children playing hide and seek. It’s a fun game, an adventure, and with two or more actively engaged to make it possible, it can go on and on. You see, from the beginning God has been there ready to be found. He has been in all the details, working in the midst of our lives in ways we cannot fathom. He, with the true heart of a Father, has always wanted to share with us. And we...we are the seekers, at least that’s what we are meant to be. Whether we choose to is another layer to this.
The thing is our Father God does not hide to see how long we go without finding Him. He doesn’t withhold Himself and His good from us. He is positioned to BE FOUND. It is like a father who plays with his children, initially positioning himself in an obvious manner for the sons or daughters to feel like they “found him”. And later, as the child grows, he adds more challenge for the purpose of stretching or growing his child’s skill in the seeking, making more adventure. He does this all in love, all with purpose, building relationship, building trust, and growing love.
Father God is positioned for you to find Him each time in a new and different way. He is always there and eager to be “found” by His children. If we will just consistently seek Him, we will find Him.
