Graduation Into Eternity

First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who read and posted on last week’s blog!! It was amazing to see the views and read the testimonies. Please keep them coming. I believe hope is here and the more we share the more people receive. So, thank you!

This past Friday I lost my grandmother and final grandparent. I woke up that morning to a message from my mother: “Gram is liberated. She went home to the Lord at 5:00 A.M. this morning.” Belle, my aunt, was with her holding her hand. What a moment.

My family and I were able to go and be with my grandmother on Wednesday and say our goodbyes. Four generations sang over her, and as I was holding her hand, I knew she liked it. The touch of a hand allows someone to leap the wall of death into comfort. My aunt got that opportunity on Friday morning.

I received many gifts the last two days from friends and family. During this emotional weekend, this thought came to me:

“It’s a feather kind of day when a saint flies away!”

May 1st was my grandmother’s graduation into eternity. This passage gives a glimpse into the paradise we all will call home one day:

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’ Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful.’ And He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.’”

Revelation 21:1-7 NKJV

My daughter tells me death is a gift. I’m starting to believe it. I see the gift of life, and now, I see the gift of death. Both life and death reap rewards. If I can encourage you today, choose to live. Choose to love. Choose to be intentional with the ones who are still here. Choose to find the joy of the morning. It’s another day to begin again.

It’s sunny where I am today. The warmth of the sun is beaming down on me. I know that Father God is near and all I have to do is speak out to feel His presence here. Be thankful in the little things and you will start to see Him in everything. It’s a good day for a good day. Be loving. Be kind. Be you.

And remember, you can bring your cheer and smile from ear to ear. Smiles make people happy. Smiles make you happy, too.
